Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chunks
  • 1 cup dried cherries chopped
Optional Topping
  • 1 tablespoon flaky sea salt optional

Equipment

  • baking sheet
  • electric mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla, then mix well.
  4. Whisk dry ingredients separately and combine with wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in chocolate chunks and dried cherries.
  6. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Portion dough and place on baking sheets.
  8. Bake 11-13 minutes until edges are golden.
  9. Cool slightly and serve.

Notes

For bakery-style cookies, reserve some chocolate chunks and cherries to press onto the tops before baking.
