Ingredients
  

Shortbread Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup pecans toasted and chopped
Maple Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp milk

Method
 

  1. Toast pecans until fragrant and cool completely.
  2. Cream butter and brown sugar, then mix in maple syrup and vanilla.
  3. Add flour and salt, then fold in pecans.
  4. Shape dough into logs and chill for 1 hour.
  5. Slice into rounds and arrange on baking sheets.
  6. Bake at 325°F for 14-16 minutes until lightly golden.
  7. Cool completely and drizzle with maple glaze if desired.

Notes

For maximum flavor, always toast the pecans before adding them to the dough.
