Ingredients
  

Pastry Twists
  • 2 sheets puff pastry thawed
  • 1.5 cups ground almonds
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 orange zest from 2 oranges
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg
Orange Syrup
  • 0.25 cup orange juice fresh
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Method
 

  1. Mix almond filling ingredients until a thick paste forms.
  2. Spread filling between puff pastry sheets and cut into strips.
  3. Twist strips, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with almonds.
  4. Bake at 400°F for 18-22 minutes until golden.
  5. Prepare orange syrup while pastries bake.
  6. Brush warm pastries with syrup and serve.

Notes

For maximum flavor, use freshly grated orange zest and brush the syrup onto the pastries while still warm.
