Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup whole milk warm
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Filling
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Orange Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice fresh

Method
 

  1. Combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Mix in eggs, butter, orange zest, vanilla, salt, and flour until dough forms.
  3. Knead until smooth and elastic, then let rise until doubled.
  4. Prepare filling and spread over rolled dough rectangle.
  5. Roll dough tightly, slice into buns, and arrange in baking dish.
  6. Let buns rise again until puffy.
  7. Bake until golden brown and fully cooked.
  8. Whisk glaze ingredients together and drizzle over warm buns.

Notes

Freshly ground cardamom gives the best flavor and aroma.
